Bathroom Before and After

Always a crowd pleaser, we’re happy to share this 2022 ASID New Jersey award winning project!

Here is the before: (with our client’s permission, of course!)

Working with the existing floor plan, we added special features that visually opened up this space.

To make this guest bathroom feel much larger, we chose a neutral oversized tile, one with a textured, non-slip finish with a high slip resistance rating.

Next we removed the existing bathtub and replaced it with a universally accessible zero entry shower.  The shower includes a fixed shower head as well as an adjustable height hand held shower head  It is also equipped with an anti-scald device and a grab bar…that does NOT look like a grab bar. Snakeskin design tiles were used on the shower walls.

For those “compromised” guests (needing a walker or someone with an injury), the shower entrance is flush and large enough to easily enter.

We also  added a slip resistant bench in the shower area.

The red custom vanity contrasts against a black honed granite countertop; a  finish we chose for its non-reflective qualities (much easier on the eyes than one that is polished.)  Two crystal sconces were added to balance the overhead lighting and to reduce shadows.

The stain and water repellent wallpaper is a commercial grade faux silk that is acceptable for areas with high condensation. (Even our installer was fooled!)

We love how the two pieces of artwork are reflected in the mirror and balance the bright, happy hue of the vanity.  Oh, and below that artwork you’ll find a grab bar…disguised as a towel bar!
